Q: What are the event dates and locations?
A: The Go Swim events will take place at:

  • Loch Tay: 16th August 2025
  • Loch Lomond: 30th August 2025
  • Loch Morlich: 13th September 2025

Q: What distances can I swim?
A: We offer a range of distances to suit all abilities:

  • 250m
  • 750m
  • 1.5km
  • 3km
  • 5km
  • 10km

Q: Who can participate?
A: Swimmers aged 8 and over can participate in our family friendly wave of 250 metres at all three locations. For our 750 metre waves participants must be 12+ and for the1500 metre waves, participants must be 16+. For our 3km, 5km and 10km swims, participants must 18 or over.

Q: How do I register?
A: Registration is here.  Entries close on the Tuesday before the relevant swim event or when capacity is reached.

Q: Are spectators allowed?
A: Yes! Spectators are welcome to enjoy the event atmosphere, cheer on participants, and explore the beautiful surroundings of Loch Tay, Loch Morlich, and Loch Lomond.

Pre-Event Information

Q: Do I need to bring my own wetsuit?
A: Unless you have entered one of our skins swims, wetsuits are mandatory for water temperatures below 18°C.

Q: What is the water temperature at the event locations?
A: Average temperatures:

  • Loch Tay: 12–15°C
  • Loch Lomond: 14–18°C
  • Loch Morlich: 13–16°C

Exact temperatures will be shared in the final event briefing.

Q: Can I swim without a wetsuit?
A: Yes, swimmers can opt to swim without a wetsuit in our skins waves up to 1,500 metres, provided they wear a tow float and are experienced in colder water conditions.

Q: Can I change my swim distance?
A: Changes to swim distances can be made up to the Tuesday before the swim in question. There will be an admin fee for such changes in the sum of £10.

Event Day Logistics

Q: What time do I need to arrive?
A: Registration opens two hours before the first wave start. Full wave timings will be emailed in your pre-race briefing.

Q: Is there parking at the venues?
A: Yes, parking is available near all event venues. Parking fees may apply depending on the location. Please carshare where possible.

Q: Will there be safety support?
A: Safety on and off the water is our priority. There will be water safety teams appropriate to the number of swimmers at each event. This will include safety kayakers and paddleboarders, along with powered rescue boats on the water. A land based medical team will include paramedics and first aiders all based in the onsite medical tent.

Q: Are changing and shower facilities available?
A: Limited changing facilities are available at all venues. Showers may not be available, so please plan accordingly.

On the Swim Course

Q: What equipment is required?
A: Mandatory items include:

  • A brightly coloured swim cap (provided at registration).
  • A wetsuit (unless choosing the skins category).
  • A tow float (if swimming skins – non-wetsuit).

Q: Are there cut-off times for the swims?
A: Yes, there are cut-off times for our longer swims as follows:

  • 3km: 2 hours
  • 5km: 3.5 hours
  • 10km: 5 hours

We reserve the right to change these cutoff times depending on weather and water conditions on the day and, if that is the case, these will be communicated to you at the race briefing.

Q: What happens if I need assistance during the swim?
A: If you need help, roll onto your back and raise your hand to signal a safety kayaker or rescue boat. They’ll assist you immediately.

Post-Swim Information

Q: Will there be refreshments after the swim?
A: There will be catering options available for purchase on-site.

Q: Do I get a medal or memento?
A: Every participant receives a bespoke Go Swim medal to commemorate their achievement.

Q: Are photos available after the event?
A: Yes, professional event photos will be available on our Facebook page in the week after each swim. We cannot guarantee to get a photo of you at the swim, but they will be free to down load from our page.
