Go Swim Loch Lomond 2020 postponed to 28th August 2021.
We’re sorry to announce that despite our best efforts, we have taken the decision to postpone this year’s Go Swim Loch Lomond on 29th August. Over the last few months, we have worked tirelessly as a team alongside our key stakeholders, Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park and EventScotland to try to find a solution to deliver this amazing event in the current climate and in line with UK and Scottish Government guidance.
Richard Pearson, Race Director, said “It is with huge disappointment that with such uncertainty and challenges ahead we have not been able to find a safe solution to deliver Go Swim Loch Lomond in 2020 and we want to give our athletes, sponsors and suppliers confirmation of this postponement as early as possible.”
Paul Bush OBE, VisitScotland Director of Events, said: “The decision to postpone Go Swim Loch Lomond 2020 has been a difficult one, however, it is understandable in the current circumstances and we fully support the decision. We appreciate the commitment of the organisers to trying to find a solution to deliver a safe event and know all avenues were explored but protecting the health and safety of athletes, staff, visitors and residents is of the utmost importance at this time. Events will play a key role in Scotland’s recovery from Covid-19 and we look forward to supporting the organisers of Go Swim Loch Lomond and Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park to welcome everyone back for the event in 2021.”
Stuart Mearns, Director of Rural Development and Planning at Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, said: “While we share the disappointment of the organisers and entrants of Go Swim Loch Lomond, we support the decision to postpone this year’s event. We’ve worked closely with the organising team who have remained committed to exploring all options available. However, with continued uncertainty on events at this time it was agreed that this is the best way forward. We look forward to working together with the aim of bringing a fantastic open water swimming event to Loch Lomond, with all the wider benefit that provides to the local area, in 2021.”
Finally, as some of you already know we’re not “mega corp”, we’re a small independent business with a core team of 4 who love putting on sporting events and being outdoors. We don’t like having to deliver this news to you and ask that you please continue to support us. We hope to see as many of you as possible in 2021 for this amazing celebration of open water swimming in the world-famous Loch Lomond.
